To Whom It May Concern:
We encourage your strong support of The Can Kicks Back and their honest campaign to solve America’s fiscal crisis. This Millennial-driven effort is exactly the proactive grassroots project our nation desperately needs. It will serve to engage and organize young people, motivating them to demand that decision makers from both parties either work together to solve the country’s problems or stand aside for those courageous folks.
In 2010, we took on the tough challenge of heading the National Commission on Fiscal Responsibility and Reform because we are gravely concerned about our country’s unsustainable fiscal condition. We see the ensuring of the prosperity of future generations as a sacred duty that our political leaders are dangerously ignoring.
Many solutions have been devised that would put us on a path toward fiscal responsibility and a healthy, growing economy. Despite the fact that Americans support – and thirst for – a compromise solution, our leaders have refused to adopt any of them. We have talked to people all over the country and so many of them are disgusted with things and are eager to see their leaders put party politics aside in favor of a better future for everyone.
We fully support The Can Kicks Back campaign because it is leading the way to a new national conversation about fiscal reform. We don’t expect all to agree on everything one-hundred percent of the time, but we are all sure to lose – big time – if we don’t work together now!
For those who believe America’s best days lay ahead, please join us in our support of this worthy endeavor.
Sincerely and respectfully,
Al Simpson and Erskine Bowles
