"Three-A-Week" Recruitment Challenge

Imagine a grassroots movement of young people joining together from across the country and across the political spectrum to reclaim our American Dream by demanding our elected officials work together to fix the national debt. It starts with YOU. And it starts NOW.

The Challenge:

Recruit at least three new supporters each week from now through President Obama’s inauguration (1/21);

Ask these supporters to do the same: three new people, every week – so that every person who is recruited becomes a recruiter;

(If 150 people start the challenge in week one, we could have as many as 2.5 million supporters by week eight. That’s the power of each of us recruiting three people a week!)

Get Started Now:

Get your unique recruiting URL at www.TheCanKicksBack.org/recruiting;

Use this URL to recruit friends, family and neighbors
so you can track who you sign up, earn "political capital," and win cool prizes (see below);

Download tips on strategy & tactics, including sample messages: "Three-A-Week" Ideas.

One of the top 10 recruiters (random selection): All-expense paid trip to Washington, DC for you and a friend in Spring 2013 to meet The Can Kicks Back team, fiscal thought-leaders and your Members of Congress;

Top 25 recruiters: “Kick Back Pack” of swag, including TCKB t-shirts, stickers, bracelets and koozies;

Recruit at least 50 people: An awesome “The Debt is Too Damn High” t-shirt in your size;

Recruit at least 24 people: Featured in "Hall of Fame" on website + invite to exclusive conference call with TCKB leadership and Advisory Board members;

With each new supporter, your voice and our voice will grow louder. And we will need a loud voice in Washington if we want a bold, balanced and bipartisan deficit reduction agreement that is fair to our generation. Thank you for your participation. Contact us with your feedback or ideas at volunteer@thecankicksback.org.

Why does everybody buy into the two major fallacies of the Right? The idea that we must start paying down the debt now is wrong. That would extend the recession if not plunge us into depression — cutting federal spending would result in massive unemployment. And the canard that Social Security must be destroyed, or at least made ineffectual — people paid in with a promise of retirement, and it can be repaired with some adjustment. The real problems are insufficient taxation of those who can pay, and two massive unfunded wars. We must get out of Afghanistan and Iraq, and everyplace else that isn’t America. And we must tax, not just the rich, but everybody who can pay a bit more. Federalizing health care with a Medicare-for-all would solve many of the problems.

To: Amber Fender, 1st I am so sorry to hear you have become homeless, your husband lost his job and you can no longer afford college. We do have an outstanding grant program to help you pay for college plus organizations to help the homeless. Maybe your husband could retrain for a different career if no jobs are available for him. (or move to where the jobs are available.) I too agree we need to balance the budget and have a long term plan to “eliminate” the deficit. I am a young 66, disabled with MCS & CFIDS for 13 yrs and have lost everything. I am trying to restore my health and so want to work again. Use these personal challenges as lessons for personal growth Your anger seems to be clouding your judgement and I suggest you do personal research on why we are in so much trouble. We had a “surplus” during Pres. Clinton’s term but from Bush we now have 2 long term wars, the Medicare Prescription Plan, & corporate welfare. adding to the deficit. We are so fortunate we had Obama leading us out of the worst recession ever. The problem is NOT President Obama but the problem with the Senate and House. Remember 4 yrs ago the Republicans vowed they would make Obama a 1 termer by gridlock. This is what you have!! All the President can do is either sign a bill into law or veto it plus some executive orders he can pull out of the hat. The “Muslim” fear is based on lies from Fox News and other far right crazies. Love your passion and desire to make a difference but Obama deserves far more respect than your statements.

I totally agree with this movement. I am tired of having a president who plays by “playground” rules. It’s embarrasing. Ever since Obama got into office my family has became homeless, my husband lost his job, I am no longer able to afford school. And all Obama is worried about is “making a point” because he can’t get his way and turn us into a “muslium-run, democratic” country. It’s time we took charge of our country and get us back to the America we know and love. Our country is greiving right now. Our founding fathers would be turning in their graves right now if they knew what was happening to the country they gave their life for. I say it’s time to get off the playground, Put our big-boy/ big-girl panties on and start acting like the adults these people CLAIM they are. I mean really… My 9 year old has better ideas for this country then our so-called president.

Agreed. The apathy of America’s youngest workers is putting them at great risk. Our current political leaders will be dead and buried when America’s debt comes due. The quality of life my kids have come to expect is simply unsustainable so long as our elected officials are permitted to “kick the can” down the road without accountability.
